15 Male Celebs Whose Ages You Won’t Believe

It’s no secret that people have crazy expectations of women in Hollywood. They’re supposed to stay looking young for decades on end and never show any signs of aging. If they do, unless they’re superstars, they have a ton of trouble getting roles. It’s definitely a superficial industry.

Unfortunately, most actors don’t face the same set of harsh criticisms when it comes to their appearance. Sure, people will notice if an actor lets himself go entirely. However, they generally won’t notice every grey hair and wrinkle as they would for a woman.

That issue isn’t something the men on this list have to worry about, though. Through a combination of good genes, good living — and perhaps a little help from a talented doctor, who knows — these celebs have managed to stay looking far younger than their years. You may have an inkling that these male celebs are a bit on the older side given how long they’ve been in the industry, but you probably had no idea just how old they actually were. It just goes to show that appearances aren’t everything.

The men on this list have stayed in the industry for decades because they’re all very talented. However, it doesn’t hurt that they look the same now that they did ten or even twenty years ago. After all, Hollywood is an industry based on youth!

Here are 15 male celebs whose ages you won’t be able to believe.

Pharrell Williams (45)

Pharrell Williams has a strange combination of energies. On the one hand, he’s a veteran of the music industry and channels major expertise. He has a certain calm know-how in the studio and when he’s doing interviews. On the other hand, he seems just as excited now as he did when he was first starting to produce music — he has a youthful energy for sure.

Looking at him, you might assume that Williams was in his late 20s or early 30s. However, in reality, he’s actually 45 years old! He has a long, long list of hits under his belt, and he continues to thrive in the competitive music industry, which certainly isn’t easy.

Jim Parsons (45)

While Jim Parsons has been trying to make it in the industry for quite some time now, most people only know him from his sitcom The Big Bang Theory. Given his youthful appearance, you may have assumed he was in his early 30s, a young actor who finally got his big break. However, in reality, Parsons is actually in his mid-40s — 45 to be exact.

Now, his character Dr. Sheldon Cooper’s youthful wardrobe of graphic tees didn’t help matters. However, even when he’s all dressed up on the red carpet in a suit and tie, he manages to look very young. It’s both a blessing and a curse — on the one hand, he can get all types of roles, but on the other hand, he needs to work hard to channel gravitas when he’s playing more serious characters.

Jared Leto (47)

You might assume that Jared Leto was older than you thought given that he’s been in the industry since the days of My So-Called Life in the ’90s. However, you probably will have a hard time believing that Jared Leto is nearly 50 years old — the man is 47! That’s insane!

One of the main factors in his youthful appearance is the fact that he’s still super trendy, and favors fashions that many 20-somethings would rock. I mean, who could ever forget that flawless man bun? There’s also the fact that he pretty much has zero wrinkles and just has boundless energy all the time. Whatever he’s doing, it’s working!

Paul Rudd (49)

Paul Rudd has had a long career in the industry. He’s been in a few major sitcoms, such as his guest-starring arc on Friends. He’s been in a few cult classics like Clueless. And, he’s been in more movies than you can count. The most curious part is that he pretty much hasn’t aged in the past two decades. Seriously — if you look at him in a ’90s project and on the red carpet and look at him on the red carpet today, you’d have a tough time figuring out which Paul Rudd was younger.

It’s absolutely nuts to think that he’ll be turning 50 years old soon. He’s stepped away from strictly playing the love interest and tried playing more unusual roles, but honestly, he could probably get away with playing the leading man until he hits 60. I mean, he still looks like someone in his early 30s!

Rob Lowe (54)

Rob Lowe first made his splash in the industry on a sitcom that was only around for a short period when he was 15 years old, in 1979. That’s right — he got his start many, many years ago. It’s a little tough to believe given how young he looks!

Lowe became a major star as a member of the Brat Pack in the ’80s, starring in classic films like The Outsiders and St. Elmo’s Fire. He had a period where he wasn’t working quite as much, and then made a transition to television, starring in shows like The West Wing, Brothers & Sisters and Parks and Recreation.

We’re pretty sure his career will last as long as he wants it to — it seems like he always has another trick up his sleeve.

Matthew McConaughey (49)

Sometimes it’s not even appearance that gives the perception of youth, but rather a general attitude. At least, that’s the case for Matthew McConaughey. He just has such a laid back vibe that it’s impossible to believe he’s nearly 50 years old. I mean, he has the ability to play super complex characters on screen and has tackled some very challenging roles over past few years. However, in interviews and on the red carpet, he just seems like a 20-something surfer guy.

We’re not sure what exactly helped shape his attitude, but we love it. Hollywood is such a fast-paced industry filled with everyone frantically trying to get their next hit. It’s refreshing to see someone who bucks that trend and marches to the beat of his own drum.

John Stamos (55)

It’s hard to believe that fans first fell in love with John Stamos when he played the cool uncle Jesse Katsopolis on the wholesome sitcom Full House. Today, though he looks different than he did in those days, he still looks amazing for his age — it’s hard to believe he’s in his mid-50s!

One of the things we love most about Stamos is that he seems aware of what looks best on him in particular periods of life. It would be a little sad if he continued to rock the long Uncle Jesse hair decades after it was popular. Instead, he changes his look on a regular basis, always finding something that looks amazing on him for his particular period of life. It’s no wonder he married someone over 20 years younger than him — he looks much younger than his actual age.

Ian Somerhalder (40)

There are always a lot of jokes about actors playing high school students when they’re well into their 20s. However, it’s surprising to see someone who’s able to pull it off in his 30s — but Ian Somerhalder does. Most fans know him from his role in The Vampire Diaries, where he played the ageless Damon Salvatore. It’s no wonder he managed to snag the role — he seems like a vampire in real life, given his perpetual youth!

A lot of it has to do with attitude, and Somerhalder definitely has a youthful vibe. His style is super trendy, and he just has an air about him that makes him seem much younger than his actual 40 years. We can’t wait to see what types of roles he tackles now that The Vampire Diaries has wrapped.

Samuel L. Jackson (70)

Okay, looking at Samuel L. Jackson, you obviously would never think he was in his 20s. He’s a veteran actor who has clearly been in the industry for quite a while. However, we’re betting that the average person would guess he was in his late 40s or 50s perhaps — not that he was 70 years old!

Like many of the actors on this list, a lot of it comes down to attitude. Sure, Jackson has a few wrinkles on his face. However, he just always has such a joy and zest for life that’s evident in all his interviews and red carpet appearances. He doesn’t take himself too seriously — and that seems to keep him young!

Mario Lopez (46)

It seems like just yesterday that Mario Lopez was capturing our hearts as the wrestler AC Slater on Saved by the Bell. And a large part of that is because he looks almost identical to when he did playing that character decades ago! Sure, he’s swapped out the curls for a more sleek hairstyle — but other than that, he doesn’t seem to have aged at all!

One of the major factors contributing to his youthful appearance is obviously his signature dimples. There’s just something about them that makes him appear much younger than his actual 46 years. However, obviously healthy living plays a major role — he clearly takes care of his physique and his skin, and it shows!

Elijah Wood (38)

Elijah Wood first got his start in the industry when he was just a kid, starring in countless movies during his teenage years. Then, he transitioned to becoming a regular adult actor. However, throughout his 20s, his youthful appearance made plenty of people think he was still a teenager — even as he hit his late 20s!

Now, Elijah Wood is nearly 40 years old, and while he’s outgrown his teenage looks, he could still easily pass for at least a decade younger than his actual age. While it may have been frustrating earlier in his career, we’re betting it comes in handy now, as he can still play a wide range of roles.

Hugh Jackman (50)

Getting your body prepared to play a major action role isn’t easy at any age. There are actors in their 20s who struggle and comment about how difficult it is. That’s what makes it all the more impressive that Jackman played the role of Wolverine in countless films, even as he reached his late 40s. I mean, the amount of work it must have taken to get the required physique must have been insane!

Jackman definitely doesn’t pass for someone in his 20s anymore, but we’d easily shave a decade off his estimated age. Perhaps it’s all the training for his superhero roles that’s kept him young over the years, but he just doesn’t seem 50 years old!

Will Smith (50)

Okay, honestly, we want to know Will Smith’s secret. The man may have filled out a little bit over the years, as he doesn’t look as lanky as he did back in his The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air days. However, in most respects, he looks almost identical now to how he looked back in the 80s.

Some of it is just that he seems to have boundless energy. Some of it may be the influence of his children keeping him young and up to date with all the latest trends. However, we have to imagine a whole lot of it is genetics, because honestly — how can someone not age, ever?

Keanu Reeves (54)

It kind of seems like Keanu Reeves has just always been in Hollywood. He’s been a staple in the entertainment industry for so many years that it’s a little bit unbelievable. It’s also crazy to think that he’s now in his mid-50s — 54 to be exact.

While his look has changed a fair bit over the years, he still manages to look at least a decade, if not more, younger than his actual age. Seriously, female celebs are constantly asked about their beauty routine and secrets, but we wish more male celebs were asked the same thing. We want to know Keanu’s age-defying secrets!

Chadwick Boseman (41)

Chadwick Boseman is the perfect example of how tough Hollywood can be. Given all his recent success, you might assume that he’s in his late 20s, someone who got his big break after a few years of trying. However, in actuality, he’s been trying to make it in the entertainment industry for nearly 2 decades now, since his early 20s. It seems like that could have been just yesterday, but he’s actually 41 years old in real life!

Given how youthful he looks in Black Panther, we never would have guessed that was his actual age. It just goes to show that actors should never give up on their dream — you don’t automatically miss your big break if you don’t get it by the time you’re 30.
