All of a sudden, everyone wants to know who she is, and where she came from.

There are many, many celebrities who move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. After all, that’s where the hub of television and movies is — Hollywood!

However, there are also quite a few actors who decide to try starting out in New York. Sometimes, it’s because it seems like a more appealing city to them than Los Angeles. Sometimes it’s because they have dreams of being on stage on Broadway rather than on set.

Either way, Rachel Brosnahan is one of the New York crew. Rather than driving around in sunny Los Angeles, she’s taking the NYC subway to auditions — and loving it. She confessed to Us Magazine that “I just celebrated my 10th anniversary in NYC! I feel like I can finally call myself a New Yorker.”

As she told Us Magazine, “whenever I need inspiration, I watch YouTube videos of all the Elphabas [from Wicked] singing “Defying Gravity.” She truly is a Broadway superfan!

We love that the thing she gets most inspired by is seeing other talented individuals performing on stage. We wouldn’t be surprised to see her returning to Broadway between acting jobs in Hollywood.

Most people know Rachel Brosnahan as a brunette. And, the shade totally works on her. She has creamy porcelain skin, so dark brunette locks look amazing. However, did you know that she’s actually a natural blonde?

Brosnahan admitted that she started dying her hair dark brown when she was just 16 years old. Apparently, she just feels more like herself with darker hair. In an industry where so many actresses opt to go platinum blonde, we love that she’s going in the opposite direction.

And, while she looks beautiful as a blonde, we have to admit — we kind of like the brunette locks a bit better as well!

Many celebrities have shared an affinity for hot sauce before, and confessed that they travel with a small bottle of it in their bag. However, Brosnahan doesn’t restrict her condiment love solely to hot sauce. We’re not sure exactly what her condiment line-up looks like, but there’s something charming about the fact that she takes a mini pantry with her wherever she goes.

Perhaps she’s just experienced far too much bland food!

There are some celebrities who are total tech geniuses. Then, there are others who prefer to do things the old-fashioned way. It turns out, Rachel Brosnahan may fall a bit more into the latter camp. It’s something her character Mrs. Maisel would definitely approve of, given that she’s from an earlier era!

As Brosnahan spilled to Us Magazine, “for a millennial, I’m particularly technologically challenged. It drives my mom insane.”

We’re not sure just how bad her lack of tech savviness is, but it’s kind of endearing. I mean, there’s constantly new gadgets flooding the market — anyone would be hard pressed to master them all!

Self-care is a huge buzz word lately, and for good reason — it’s really important. No one is able to give 110% for months and months on end. You absolutely need to take time for you, and find activities that help recharge your batteries.

For some, that may be working out, or getting a massage. For others, perhaps it’s spending time reading in solitude. For Rachel Brosnahan, self-care is all about two things: singing in the shower as loud as she can, and watching Survivor with her pups.

We wouldn’t have taken her for a reality television superfan, but apparently she is! Who would have guessed?

Brosnahan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and doesn’t have a British accent. However, her mother is British, which is where she gets her dual citizenship from.

It may very well come in handy if she ever wants to spend extended time in the U.K. for a project. Perhaps she’ll put Broadway in New York City on hold for a while, and try out what it’s like to be on stage in London.

Most of us know about the dangers of sun exposure, so we’re happy to hear that Brosnahan is vigilant about sunscreen.  As she confessed, “I never go anywhere without sunscreen — at least SPF 50! I’m a vampire.”

It just sounds like common sense to us! After all, as an actress, her face is basically her canvas. Why wouldn’t you want to protect that as much as you can?

That’s right — she spilled to late night host Jimmy Fallon that she keeps her Emmy and Golden Globe awards in the bathroom.

Before she became an actress who walked the red carpet in loaned designer gowns, Rachel Brosnahan had a link to the world of fashion. It turns out, the late Kate Spade was actually her aunt! It seems that creativity and a passion for the arts definitely runs in the family.

And, People recently reported that Brosnahan will pay her aunt a touching tribute by being the face of her label, Frances Valentine. We can’t think of a better person for the job.

It’s just too bad that Spade wasn’t around long enough to see her niece walk the red carpet in one of her creations. What an amazing experience that would have been!

Rachel Brosnahan definitely has a busy schedule. However, there’s one thing that keeps her afloat — coffee.

It turns out, as she confessed to the LA Times, she drinks what she calls “vats of coffee” when she needs to memorize lines from her scripts. We’re not sure exactly what it is about sipping a cup of joe that makes it easier for her, but hey — whatever works!

It’s tough to memorize lines no matter what. However, on a television show where you’re getting a new script every week, we imagine it’s even harder. She’s found a delicious trick that works for her, so why not go for it?

Given that she ended up getting the role, you might assume Rachel Brosnahan had an amazing audition for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It seems that wasn’t the case, though.

As Brosnahan admitted in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, “I rallied, but I honestly was so sick during the camera test. I was so sweaty Amy [the executive producer] kept stopping me because I had to powder my face, I was blowing my nose, I took my shoes off at some point… at best, that test was a beautiful disaster! But Midge is kind of a disaster sometimes.”

Obviously, the producers and casting team saw something in Brosnahan that they loved. So, they hired her despite the less than desirable audition.

In fact, she gave an interview to Broadway magazine back in 2013, when she starred in The Big Knife.  She confessed that “I’m the youngest member of the cast by quite a lot, so it’s been a lot of listening and observing.”

Given that she got her start performing live, where there were no retakes or shooting scenes a second time, she probably learned quite a bit!

In fact, she loved medical mysteries and documentaries that focused on that world so much, she nearly became a surgeon! When she sat down to really think about it, though, she realized that acting appealed to her more.

She’s probably too busy with her filming schedule nowadays to watch too much television. However, perhaps one day she’ll get to bring her passion to life and star as a doctor in one of her projects.
