Ellie Goulding Nearly Drowned In A Frozen Lake
English singer Ellie Goulding nearly died in 2016 while on tour. The singer was in Norway with photographer Conor McDonnell, where they were crossing a frozen lake on a belt wagon (a vehicle used to drive in icy conditions, according to Billboard). However, the weight of the vehicle apparently broke through the ice, and thus forced Ellie and Conor to escape the vehicle through the roof of the car. And of course, they were still in a frozen lake! Ellie didn’t share more details, but it seems they got out fine. Still, they were pretty lucky the car had a roof, or things may have turned out differently.

Actresses Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox made headlines for an unfortunate reason in early 2019 when a private jet they were on had to make an emergency landing. The two were on their way to Cabo for Jennifer’s birthday when something went wrong with one of the plane’s wheels. The pilots turned the plane back around, and an airport in Ontario, California was closed down so the plane could land. Fortunately, the plane landed without incident. The actresses were clearly determined to get to Cabo because they simply took another plane to get there. Legends!

Fortunately, he did find his way back to the big screen and seems to have made a full recovery from the incident.
Isla Fisher Almost Drowned And Everyone Thought She Was Acting
A stunt went awry for Isla Fisher on the set of Now You See Me. The actress, who did her own stunts, was stuck underwater after a scene involving a magic trick went wrong. The problem is that no one on set realized anything had gone wrong. While the actress was actually struggling, those on set thought that she was simply performing for the scene. She told Chelsea Lately; “Everyone thought I was acting fabulously.” This miscommunication truly could have spelled disaster for the actress, but fortunately, she’s able to make light of it.

While preparing for a film role for which he had to lose weight, Martin went jogging in multiple layers of clothing. The problem is, according to E News, it was 107 degrees outside. We’re not quite sure how Martin was able to stand the heat, but he was outside long enough to suffer from heat stroke. The actor fell into a coma for three days, and now he has the perfect excuse to never go jogging again.
Emilia Clark Had Two Aneurysms
You would think Emilia Clark is a pretty lucky person, considering her incredible success. However, her two brain aneurysms might make you think otherwise. The actress only recently opened up about her harrowing medical journey, which she managed to keep from the public, all the while slaying dragons and being an amazing person. At one point during her recovery, Emilia says she couldn’t even remember her name, and the thought that she would no longer be able to continue acting made her want to “pull the plug.” Emilia has spoken out to raise awareness about the condition she had, and her costar Jason Momoa (who apparently knew about the whole thing pretty early on) has rightfully commended her for her bravery. No wonder their relationship is so special!
Travis Barker Survived A Plane Crash
Many people have a fear of flying, and though plane crashes are rare, one person that has reason to fear is Travis Barker. He suffered second and third-degree burns during the crash and recounted offering his friends $1 million to kill him because the pain was so bad. Travis has avoided planes since the crash, but he says that if his kids ever asked him to fly somewhere, he would because he doesn’t want to pass on the fear.

Kate Winslet Escaped A Fire
Actress Kate Winslet had a near-death experience when a stroke of lightning started a fire at Richard Branson’s luxury villa, where she was staying with her family. Kate only took a few things with her when the fire started, and that included her children, their passports, and a bra (clearly she knows how hard it is to find a good one). She ended up getting one more thing from the experience though; a husband! Kate’s husband, who is Richard’s nephew, apparently helped Kate and her children to safety by holding a “head torch.” Apparently, the whole experience was the ultimate bonding experience.
Lamar Odom Nearly Overdosed
It was only a few years ago that NBA player Lamar Odom nearly overdosed in a brothel in Nevada. He spent days in a coma, during which his now ex-wife Khloe Kardashian assisted with his recovery. It was quite a long journey for the player, who is, fortunately, doing better these days. In an essay for Rolling Stone, he detailed that he tried cocaine for the first time at a party, and his habit worsened after the death of his six-month-old son and then his grandmother. Khloe recently revealed that the day he nearly overdosed, she had been incorrectly told that he had died by someone who made a fake account and emailed her the wrong information. She passed on the wrong information to her family, and then had to go back and update them, People reported.
Amy Schumer Had A Wild Surfing Accident
Actress and comedian Amy Schumer’s near-death experience sounds like something out of a summer thriller. She told Vanity Fair that when she was in high school, she had a pretty intense surfing accident; “My whole fin went into my leg, and I had to yank it out. I was by myself.” Apparently, the accident occurred during wintertime, so when she made it back to shore there was only one man around that was able to help her. He helped keep her leg closed until an ambulance arrived, and Amy later had to get forty-one stitches. Amy told the mag, “I wish I knew who that guy was, because he saved my life, for sure.”

The actor recounted the story to Men’s Health, saying; “When I was a kid, one time I got my leg rope wrapped around my whole body like a ball, under water. Couldn’t get up. I was in waist-deep water, but I almost drowned. You know, I’ve had a few times.” A few times?! Apparently, this Hemsworth is luckier than we ever realized. No word on how Liam escaped, but he’d like to imagine that his super-hero brother was there to rescue him.
Gerard Butler Also Had A Surfing Accident
Amy is not the only actor who nearly died while surfing. Actor Gerard Butler also had a close call on the set of Chasing Mavericks while he was surfing. Gerard was pulled underwater and ended up being dragged across a reef. Fortunately, he was rescued by a safety patrol person and taken to the hospital, People reported. Gerard confirmed just how frightening the incident was when he said; “This was maybe one of the few times that the reports were not exaggerated. It was a pretty close call. … [The waves] just took me and I couldn’t get up. It was pretty hairy.”

Actress Charlize Theron has had a very interesting, yet tragic life. One of the most traumatic of those experiences was during the filming of an action film called Aeon Flux in 2005. Charlize fell on her neck during what was apparently a freak accident. She told News.com; “I was a centimeter away from being completely paralyzed for the rest of my life.” Fortunately, that didn’t occur, but she still had to deal with the impact of the experience years later; “Eight years of pain management, where I just couldn’t get rid of the spasms and the nerve damage. I ended up having a (neck) fusion four years ago.” Despite that experience, Charlize still does most of her own stunts in films.

He recounted to Vanity Fair an incident where a Great White jumped into the cage he was in and near took a chunk out of him. He was also nearly in a plane crash, after one of the engines of the plane he was in exploded, but the pilots eventually made a safe emergency landing. As if these occurrences weren’t enough, Leo also experienced a free fall during a skydive, where his chute was knotted up. His guide pulled the backup chute, which also ended up being knotted up. Somehow he was able to fix the problem before the two fell to their deaths. We suppose Leo’s quite the adrenaline junkie because he keeps doing crazy stuff!

Actress Sharon Stone was so close to death, she apparently saw a “white light.” In an interview with Closer Weekly. she admitted; “I started to see and be met by some of my friends… people who were very, very dear to me [who had died]. I had a real journey with this that took me to places both here and beyond. But it was very fast—whoosh! Suddenly, I was back. I was in my body.” Apparently, something positive did come from the experience; Sharon says she’s no longer afraid of death because she felt at peace during her near-death experience.
Orlando Bloom Fell Three Stories
Actor Orlando Bloom had a pretty harrowing accident when he was in his twenties. He miraculously survived a dramatic, three-story fall, The Daily Mail reported. Afterward, doctors were convinced he would never be able to walk again, but he was eventually able to regain mobility through rehabilitation. We can only imagine how terrifying those few minutes of free fall must have been. The actor has a large back scar from the experience but managed to make a full recovery.
Jane Seymour Saw The White Lights
Actress Jane Seymour had a white light experience just like Sharon Stone. The actress was suffering from bronchitis, and things got worse when she had an allergic reaction to the medicine. Jane told CNN that she knew something was wrong as soon as she received the injection, but there was also a sense of peace; “I saw this white light. I had no pain, I had no tension, I just kind of looked and then went, ‘That’s very strange. That’s me. But that can’t be me if I’m here.'” Fortunately, the actress recovered from the experience, and overall it seems her experience wasn’t as traumatic as some of the others on this list.
Uma Thurman Blames Quentin Tarantino For Her Near Death Experience
Though actress Uma Thurman and director Quentin Tarantino were formerly friends, Uma spoke out in the midst of the MeToo movement to discuss a different kind of onset abuse: dangerous negligence. While filming Kill Bill, Uma says Tarantino coaxed her into doing a stunt that would normally be done by a professional stunt performer. The stunt coordinator was apparently not even on set because there were no stunts planned for that day, and furthermore, the car was not safe for driving. Uma suffered a concussion and damaged both her knees during the incident. One stunt coordinator told The Hollywood Reporter that things could have been worse; “That could have been a death by decapitation.” Yikes. Tarantino has also gotten in trouble for chocking actress Diana Kruger for a scene in one of his films in which he was not a featured actor.
Rachel Bilson Was In A Terrible Car Accident
Best known for the role of Summer in The O.C., Rachel’s teenage years were perhaps just as dramatic as those of her character, but for a different reason. The actress was involved in a terrible car accident when she was just fourteen, and it’s left her with permanent side effects. Apparently, Rachel’s head struck the window of the car, and she now suffers from migraines because of the head trauma. She explained; “I basically died and then came back. The window went into my head. It was really gross.”
