Pregnancy isn’t slowing down Meghan Markle. On the contrary, the Duchess of Sussex is on a lucky streak, and ready for an incredibly busy year. The mom-to-be kicked off the new year in the most fabulous way possible, with Queen Elizabeth granting her a sudden and rare honor. The Queen made Meghan the only royal patron of four organizations whose work reflect the Duchess’s biggest interests, passions, and the social causes she cares about.
As we are all aware, Meghan’s life has revolved around the arts, women’s rights, and animals. (And Prince Harry of course). So from now on, she’ll have the chance to work closely with all the things she holds dear in an official capacity.

#fashion Meghan pitched in to choose an outfit for Patsy Wardally for an upcoming job interview. The duchess exclaimed “that looks amazing on you” as she saw her in a red wrap dress. —————— Meghan the Duchess of Sussex arrived for her first official visit to Smart Works @smartworkscharity as its patron today . —————————————————- #meghanmarkle #meghanmarklestyle #dukeofsussex #duchessofsussex #britishroyals #dukeandduchessofsussex #royal #royalty #royalvisit #vogue #voguemagazine #instyle #instylemagazine #stylish #influencer #fashiondesigner #fashionista #fashionmagazine #kensingtonpalace #patron #charity #smartworkscharity
To be more specific, Meghan inherited from the monarch the patronage of the National Theater, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, as well as women’s charity Smart Works, and historic animal welfare charity Mayhew. If this isn’t the best work title in the world, then we don’t know what it!
Following the announcement of her new royal duties, Meghan chose to visit Smart Works, an organization that helps long-term unemployed women regain their confidence at job interviews by finding them smart, high-quality outfits. Meghan, whose personal style has hit the newsstands daily since she made her relationship with Prince Harry public, was seen as a natural fit for the job. Because let’s not forgotten that she has delivered some pretty empowering talks about feminism and women’s rights. So kick-starting her duties by visiting a woman’s charity was a total no-brainer. Besides, ladies come first.
Meghan stepped out to visit the Western London charity dressed for the job in an elegant black maternity dress by Hatch, which she matched with a cotton-twill camel coat by Oscar De La Renta. And as per usual, she looked so stunning, she made pregnancy look like a cakewalk.

But the coolest thing was that the Duchess actually rolled up her sleeves, and had hands-on experience on volunteering for the charity. The 37-year-old helped a woman get ready for a work interview by picking out handbags, jewellery, and coats. Did the woman get the job? With a coach like that, we bet she did.
The Suits star giggled as she shared a hilarious story of how during a previous visit to Smart Works, she suggested to someone an expensive purse that she had personally donated, and guess what, that person didn’t like it. How is that even possible?
With natural confidence, Meghan charmed the socks off of the entire room, which consisted of volunteers, jobseekers, and women who had landed professional jobs through the charity’s program. We can’t wait to see how her other three visits will pan out, as patron of the arts, education, and animals.
Does this mean that Prince Harry Is Not Grumpy Anymore?
This sudden vote of confidence from the Queen suggests that there will be more clear-cut roles for Meghan and Harry in the future. The happy announcement comes only days after the media everywhere reported that Prince Harry is very cross with the world and that he is growing really “grumpy”. It was speculated that this happened because the couple’s royal duties were not as defined as William and Kate’s and that their work as members of the royal family lacked ‘structure’.

Connecting the dots, it looks like Harry and Meghan from now on are about to get proper ‘jobs’ (If you can call them that) to keep them busy until they welcome their first baby in Spring.
To top it off, Prince Harry also feels responsible for Meghan reportedly being “miserable” and “stressed”, because of the blitz of negative press she receives daily. I guess it also doesn’t help that dad Thomas and half-sister Samantha are both writing tell-all books about the Duchess’s early years. Samantha Markle, in particular, is planning to release her book, ‘In the Shadow of the Duchess’ around the same time when Meghan will give birth to her first baby. Thomas Markle, who has hung up the phone on Prince Harry and publicly called him to ‘man up’, claims that his upcoming book will share details about ‘the good years’ of his daughter.
Meghan hasn’t responded to any of these comments and has “ghosted” both her half-sister and her dad. (and the rest of the Markle family.) Besides, her coping strategy until now has been to “stay out of the drama.”
“In life, in the office, in any of that, stay out of the drama,” Meghan said back in 2015.
“You’ll be endlessly happier for it. If you want to do that, save that for drinks after work with your girlfriends.”
And finally let’s not forget the famous rift between Meghan and Kate Middleton, which proves that the press just loves a good-old catfight. The favorite anecdote is, of course, the incident where Meghan “left Kate Middleton in tears’.
But to be perfectly honest, Meghan looks like she is in a really good place, and the happiest she has ever been. What’s not to love? She has a charming royal life, a supportive husband and a baby on the way. Not to mention she wears awesome designer clothes and was just offered an amazing new job doing the thing she loves. Meghan, rock on.
